Haseen Dillruba Review: Haseen Dilruba is inconsistent, illogical, unbelievable, but it is still a very good watch. It is like a cheap version of Crime Patrol, yet I enjoyed every minute of the movie.
Haseen Dilruba is a pulp fiction with flavors of thrill, mystery, and surprisingly amazing comedy scenes. The first thing to know about Haseen Dilruba is that it is not a thriller movie.
It is a Pulp Fiction movie and it excels in that department. I personally thought that Haseen Dilruba is a thriller movie at first, but when I started watching it, I realized that it is nothing like that.
And just like me, many people thought it would be a cold-blooded thriller, which is why Haseen Dilruba is getting so bad reviews.
In order to understand Haseen Dilruba and what kind of movie this is, we have to know what is Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction is a genre that deals with lurid or sensational subjects.
In early 90s we had so many magazines in this genre. And those magazines were not technical masterpieces in any way. But they were so popular because of how entertaining they were.

And it is the same case in Haseen Dilruba. The movie has plot holes, it has inconsistencies, and yet it is an entertaining movie that will entertain you. And sometimes that is all you want from a movie.
Haseen Dillruba Review: One artist that really entertained me throughout the movie was Yamini Das. She played the role of Lata(Vikrant Massey’s mother) and she is brilliant here.
Every arranged marriage couple will relate to Yamini. She played the perfect mother-in-law with all the taunts. Yamini was the reason for most comedy scenes in the first hour of the movie.
Other than Yamini, I was impressed by Daya Shankar Pandey, who has been amazing every time but is ignored by all the fans. But he showed us once again why is he so good and why you should pay attention to him.
I really liked the characters in this movie. Especially, the character of Rani Kashyap. Her character is so hate-worthy and you love to hate her character.
The makers wanted that only and they have achieved it successfully. And Taapsee Pannu has done it decently. The second lead character of Rishu played by Vikrant Massey is so wonderful.
His character had so many layers. He was a simple man at first, a desperate lover in the second half and he also deals with his cheating wife in between.
And Vikrant has played the role so brilliantly. It was the best performance of his career. Harshvardhan Rane is a simple character and didn’t get much screen time. He played whatever he got decently.
Vinil Mathew did an amazing job here. Even though the movie was inconsistent and predictable at some point. Even though it was slow, Vinil did an amazing job to keep you interested.
He maintained an element that will keep you interested from the start to finish. Even when the movie got slow sometimes, my interest never wavered in any sense. And that is the highest praise I can give to a director for his work.
I think the movie failed because of how it was marketed. The makers labeled it as a dark comedy thriller. Instead, they should have told us from the start that it was pulp fiction.
And people would have liked it more. Because it is one of the best pulp fiction movies I have seen in a while. And even it gets predictable, you will love to watch it. And that is all that matters in the end.
Haseen Dillruba: Is It Worth It?
YES! It is absolutely worth it. It is an entertaining watch and you will enjoy it thoroughly. Even though it was predictable you will enjoy it. Because it is supposed to be like that only. In my opinion, Haseen Dilruba is a brilliant watch and you all should watch it.
