The Kashmir Files: A very intense real story-based movie is coming our way and we can’t keep calm about it. The Kashmir Files looks interesting and a very good movie in all sense. It has an amazing cast, a brilliant story to back it up, and a very good director.
This might be a very good movie for you. In Bollywood, we don’t have very good political movies and The Kashmir Files is definitely not like them it is based on the real story of Kashmiri Pandits. But bear in mind that this movie will be controversial.
Director Vivek Agnihotri got the idea of making this movie after the success of The Tashkent Files. He has done some extensive research on the situation in Kashmir and we hope that reflects in the movie.
We have seen how good The Tashkent Files really was. So, hopes from The Kashmir Files is high too.
The Kashmir Files – Plot
If you have watched The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files will be similar to that only. The official synopsis of the movie reads “The Kashmir Files’ is a story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of the Genocide of Kashmiri Pandit Community In 1990.”
As the synopsis reads the movie is based on Kasmiri Pandits that were victims of the first genocide that took place in 1990. The movie will show us all the struggles of all the residents of Kasmir during that period of time.
The trailer of the movie featured Kashmir in the middle of civil and communal tensions with Kashmiri Pandits hoping for relief and peace. It is chaos and it will be interesting to see how this movie will unfold.
The Kashmir Files – Cast
There are certain National Award Winners in this movie. Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Prakash Belawadi, and Pallavi Joshi will be in the main lead. So, you can say that the performances are going to be over the chart.
Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava, and Prithviraj Sarnaik will also be in the movie in some pivotal roles. It will be wonderful to see how all these actors will come along to give us something this good.
The Kashmir Files – Release Date
The movie is all set to release on March 11, 2022. Earlier it was supposed to release on Republic Day in 2022. But Pandemic happened and the movie was delayed. It looks like we won’t get any more delay and we hope that is the case.
It will be released in theaters exclusively. The Kashmir FIles is just 10 minutes shy of 3 hours mark. If you have already seen Tashkent Files you know what you are getting into so keep that in mind before watching that.
The Kashmir Files – What To Expect?
It looks like a real story-based movie that will have lots of talking. If you have seen The Tashkent Files you will know what kind of movie this is. If it is anywhere near that level, you will have a very good time considering it suits your taste.

“It is not political drama, it’s a real story”
Yes! This movie is based on the true events.
A must watch movie. Indian history in books have all shit except what happened on our own family. An eye opener!! Kudos to Vivek and team. Hats off Sir!!!
We watched TKF yesterday in theater.
It is not a film, it’s stark truth! Presented as it happened. Cruelty depicted without any whitewash or appeasement.
The film will keep you shocked and moved for days & months.
As a picture, well directed with a pace like murder movie, what next? A lot of location shooting and good light& sound.
Excellent mature acting by Anupam, Mithun and two other character actors, the hero and in fact the entire cast.
It has a strong gripping story that touches on many issues, might keep u glued on the seat, with breath holding. Exposes apathy of polticians and manipulaion of Leftizlamists & librandus, apart from violence perpetrated by ‘peacefuls’.
_Most of the dialogs & scenes have meaning._
Difficult to thank Vivek Agnihotri in words!
In short a must see movie and, to get the full effect, better watch in theater.
Heartening to note the hall was almost full.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on The Kashmir Files, Ritwik!
We really appreciate your review.
Request Agnihotri ji if TKF can be dubbed in various languages , so that it can be well understood by the audiance those who can’t understand the local language with the depths of dialogues and scenes. Subtitles sometimes make you to either skip or divert the complete focus and feelings of the scenes. Have watched the movie twice 4 days before but still feel to watch it again and again this superb and wonderful visualisation of unforgettable attrocities on Kashmiri Pandits on the 7th Genocide.
