Vikram Movie Review: Yes, we all welcome you to Lokesh Kanagraj Cinematic Universe and it is bloody brilliant here. Lokesh Kanagraj has been one of our favorite Tamil directors even though he has only done four movies so far.
His “Master” was truly a commercial masterpiece, but so far the favorite one has been “Kaithi”. Because Master might have been a brilliant movie but the second half did not cater to the story but rather the star.
Whereas Kaithi was completely revolving around the story. Another fact is that you have to watch Kaithi understand some references to the Vikram movie. And as a viewer, we love the fact that we are getting rewarded for the attention.
As we told you you are stepping in for Lokesh Kanagraj’s cinematic universe and this is how you prepare for it. Let’s take a deep dive into the movie and everything you need to know about it to see if it is worth it or not.
Vikram Review: Plot
The movie focused on mass killings by a gang. And these are not random killings, the killings involve known officials throughout the states. All of these killings are done as a form of social statement.
And upon investigation, it is realized that there are more factors involved in these killings. A drug chase and gang warfare are revealed and it is bloody out there. No matter where you see it is blood throughout the whole of Chennai.
And here all of our main characters are in between this mess with all of them having their own motives and roles. And no matter how you look at it all of this will result in a blood-filled tale that no one has ever thought of.
Vikram Review: What Worked For The Movie?
Homework Is Needed
Vikram Movie Review: This might be a negative aspect for most of the fans but we absolutely loved this fact. While many fans will say that commercial films should be there for relaxation, Lokesh demands you to pay attention to the movie.
Because of the way details were being carefully planted and all the callbacks were filmed, if you miss any of those, you will be lost. Not only that if you have watched Kaithi, which is really important, and old Vikran, you will enjoy this movie a lot more.
Very few commercial movies reward a viewer for paying attention. And Vikram is one of those very few.
Anirudh Ravichander has created a masterpiece of an album for this one. The music will give you goosebumps and will keep you hooked. And for a thriller movie, a music album like this is something so necessary.
There is no doubt that Anirudh’s music has made Vikram 10 times better than it actually was. And for that, all props must be given to him.
Cinematography and Action Sequences
There are so many movies where the cinematography is good but the action scene does not match it and vice versa. But in Vikram, the combination of both of these aspects is truly wonderful. Both of these factors complement each other.
Girish Gangadharan’s cinematography is so beautiful and so poetic that it gives you goosebumps so many times. You will fall in love with the cinematography and how well the action sequences blend into those scenes.
Well, last but not the least, every cast member did his job perfectly. Vijay Settupati is just brilliant in everything he does in this movie. It was impossible to find a flaw in his performance this time around. Vijay made a very simple character interesting and that is saying something.
Kamal Hassan definitely gave one of his best performances in a while. It was visible how much rage his character had and how he was in a restraint throughout. It was just wonderful to see.
Fahad Fazil is a hero and we all need to give him his dues. It has been so long that he is giving mad performances over and over. And once again he blends in the role of Aman perfectly. He steals the show and outshines Kamal Hassan and is star power a run for his money.
Vikram Review: What Did Not Worked For The Movie?
Could Have Been More
Vikram Movie Review: It is not a dig at the movie in any way. Vikram is a very good movie but you can’t deny the fact that it could have been a little bit more. The fact that even after a 3-hour runtime Kamal Hassan does not feel needed is a bummer.
And we all know how much Lokesh Kanagraj is a fan of Kamal Hassan. But it is not something that ruins the movie. It is just that Vikram could have been a standalone movie as well. But with Kaithi 2 and Vikram 3 on their way, we know this will change.
Vikram Movie Review: Is It Worth It?
Vikram Movie Review: Yes, it is 100 percent worth it. This is completely Lokesh’s movie. We have seen so many fanservice movies that loses the plot because of the star power. But Vikram stays on the right path throughout.
And the best part is that it is just the start of Lokesh Cinematic Universe and things are only going to get better from here on out. So, watch this movie because you are guaranteed to have a good time watching it.
